What is Reiki?

Reiki is a gentle, yet powerful, hand-healing method for mind, body, and spirit. It is one of the safest natural healing techniques. The name Reiki comes from the Japanese words "rei" meaning spirit, and "ki" meaning energy. It is usually translated as "universal life energy."

Learning Reiki

Anyone can learn to become a Reiki healer, and the process is very simple. You do need to have a sincere desire to learn and work with Reiki for your own greater good and that of the Universe.

Reiki cannot be learned from a book, you can only learn the background and some practical aspects this way. You need to be attuned to Reiki energy by a Reiki Master Teacher first and then you learn more by experiencing and working with Reiki yourself.

Once you have received the attunements, Reiki energy will flow through your hands naturally and without effort. This ability will be with you for the rest of your life. Personal growth on all levels will also be encouraged by the attunements.

The attunements or empowerments are unique to Usui’s Reiki system. They are very precise. Only a Reiki Master trained in Usui’s method can perform them. They open a channel within you to allow higher amounts of the Universal Life Force Energy to flow through the upper energy centres and out through the your hands. The vibratory rate of the body is amplified at the same time.

Please take your time in choosing your Reiki Master/Teacher. It is an important decision and you need to be comfortable with your chosen teacher. Look around, make contact and discuss the courses. It is a good idea to meet before making the final decision and receive a treatment from them. Use your intuition and go with your feelings. Also be prepared to discuss your reasons for wanting to learn Reiki.
